RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights
Course Overview
This unit covers working safely at heights in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: identifying the work requirements, work procedures and instructions for the task; accessing and installing equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning up the work area.
This unit specifies the competency required to undertake safe working practices when working at heights or depths.
Prerequisites
To undertake the RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights, you will need:
- To be a minimum of 16 years of age
- To understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of confined spaces.
- To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification
Duration
1 x 7 Hour day.
Note: If proof of previous training, a shorter course can be offered.

Course Cost $250.00 Warrawong
All courses require the full amount to be paid prior to make a successful booking. Applicants will be advised of the amount at the time of the booking. What is covered in the course?

Locate and apply relevant documentation, policies and procedures demonstrate consistent timely completion of work at heights that safely, effectively and efficiently meets the required outcomes on a minimum of three (3) separate occasions including:

- access, interpret and apply technical and safety information for working at heights
- assess hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implement control methods
- select wear and care for personal protective equipment identify required safety systems including fall protection and associated equipment
- check that fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection and associated equipment is correct
- perform work safely at heights
- correct storage an checking of equipment
- clean up site on completion of work

How do I enrol?
- Our Enrolment Form is required to be completed and sent to our office prior to receiving any course confirmation.
See Support Tab for our enrolment form. - A Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills test will be required for each student.

What do I need to bring?
- You must supply photo dentification.
- Wear comfortable, practical clothing and enclosed footwear (you will not be permitted in with thongs or open footwear)
- Lunch (There is a café nearby and a regular coffee van visit. Free Tea, Coffee, Water & Biscuits are provided)
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the commencement of training
Training and Assessment
Theory and Practical Demonstrations.Re-Assessment
Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training.Note: There is no extra cost for this extra training or reassessment
Refresher Training
Refresher Cost $220.00 Warrawong
4 hours – 9.00am – 1pm
To be eligible to enrol into this refresher course, you must provide evidence that you have previously attained the following competency (A copy of your Statement of Attainment or Card) by completing our RPL Kit and attaching your evidence to support it.
This must be completed at the time of enrolment prior to being accepted into the course.
Licences and Certification
This is a Nationally Recognised Training course and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights.
A wallet sized competency card will also be issued.
Cancellations and Withdrawals
In the event of cancellation or withdrawal:
- Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
- Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by Achieve Training and Assessment Services is required to cover the costs of administration and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training.
- Students who cancel their enrolment within 1 full business day prior program commencement OR after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
If Achieve Training and Assessment Services cancels the training course, and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.
Smart and Skilled
If you wish to apply and are eligible for funding through the NSW Smart and Skilled program, This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.
