Course Overview
Verification of Competency (VOC) is an industry standard method used to validate competency requirements of industry personnel and identify any need for gap training.
VOC is a process where skills and knowledge are evaluated against a set performance criteria.
Types of Machines
Achieve Training and Assessment Services Offer the following VOC’s for Earthmoving Equipment.
- Excavator
- Skid Steer
- Front-End Loader
- Front-End Loader Backhoe
- Dozer
- Grader
- Roller
- Haul Truck
NOTE: To obtain a VOC you must first supply evidence of past training or operations through a previous licence or a certificate.
A letter from SafeWork NSW stating that you have previously held a certain licence will also be accepted if a student can not produce either a licence copy or certificate.
If a VOC is required for a High Risk machine (Forklift, EWP or Crane), a current valid Safe Work High Risk Work Licence must be presented before VOC can be commenced.
Duration
Usually on average 2-4 hours to complete.
Payment and Trading Terms
$300.00 per assessment (if assessment is to be on client’s site using client’s machine, a minimum of 5 assessments are required).
All courses require the full amount to be paid prior to make a successful booking. Applicants will be advised of the amount at the time of the booking. Corporate clients, following a successful credit reference check, will be forwarded an authority to invoice on the term of a 14 day account.
Facilities include Credit Card, EFTPOS or Cash.

What you need to know and do
- ENROLMENT FORM is required to be completed and sent to our office prior to receiving any course confirmation. See Support Tab for our enrolment form. VOC Enquiry
- Prior to enrolling in this course you will need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification
- You Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
- You will be required to conduct mathematical calculations throughout this course
- You must understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of earthmoving operations
- Wear comfortable and practical clothing and enclosed footwear
- Tea, Coffee & Biscuits are provided (If course is held at our facility)
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of training
Assessment
Assessments will be conducted over the duration of the course – Knowledge, Calculations and Practical Assessments. All critical components must be demonstrated and answered correctly.
Re-Assessment
Assessments will consist of theory and practical demonstration.
Licences and Certification
On satisfactory completion of all assessments, a wallet sized photo card will be issued for the types of machines completed.
Cancellations and Withdrawals
In the event of cancellation or withdrawal:
- Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
- Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by Achieve Training and Assessment Services is required to cover the costs of administration and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training.
- Students who cancel their enrolment within 1 full business day prior program commencement OR after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.
If Achieve Training and Assessment Services cancels the training course, and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.
