NSW Smart and Skilled
NSW Smart and Skilled is the funding program in NSW for Vocational Education and Training (VET).
It’s helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers, it provides eligible NSW students with subsidised training up to and including Certificate III, as well as government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

Am I eligible for Smart and Skilled subsidised training?
You must meet all of the following criteria:
- 15 years old or over
- No longer at school
- Living or working in NSW
- Australian OR New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident OR a Humanitarian Visa Holder, OR a Partner Visa Holder whose sponsor is a current or past Humanitarian Visa Holder.
There are also some exceptions to the eligibility conditions described above, such as for Aboriginal people who live in specific, defined areas outside the NSW border.
All training fees depend on your personal circumstances. If you are a recipient of government benefits, have a disability or are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you may be eligible for fee free* or a concession price.
