Course Overview

This course covers the specific industry requirements for the mining and resource sector, civil and general construction industry through to the manufacturing and process industry. It is appropriate for those working in operational roles undertaking work in confined spaces.

Prerequisites

To undertake the RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces, you will need:

To be a minimum of 16 years of age
To understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of confined spaces.
To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification

Duration

1 x 7 Hour day.

Note: If proof of previous training, a shorter course can be offered.

Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training.

Licences and Certification

This is a Nationally Recognised Training course and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces.

A wallet sized competency card will also be issued.

Cancellations and Withdrawals

In the event of cancellation or withdrawal:

Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by Achieve Training and Assessment Services is required to cover the costs of administration and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training.
Students who cancel their enrolment within 1 full business day prior program commencement OR after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.

If Achieve Training and Assessment Services cancels the training course, and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.

Smart and Skilled

If you wish to apply and are eligible for funding through the NSW Smart and Skilled program, This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Course Overview

This course is your basic one day confined space entry course to help your workers understand what constitutes a confined space as well as increased awareness and identify the hazards present, assess all risk and implement the proper precautions and covers the skills and knowledge required to test the working atmosphere, using electronic test apparatus, to find out if it is safe for the proposed work.

It applies to situations where an individual may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area or workspace. The competency requires the person to interpret readings and take actions based on the interpretation.

Working environment may be hazardous, unpredictable, subject to time pressure, chaotic and expose responders to risk, on land or water, by day or night. Workplace atmospheres may include visible and invisible hazards and hazardous surfaces.

The unit is suitable for use in the following situations:

confined spaces
enclosed and partially enclosed spaces
hot work
storage tanks, silos, pits, pipes, shafts, ducts, transport vehicles and ships
testing as part of issuing a work permit
monitoring as part of working under a work permit
open areas
holding the gas tester by hand
lowering the gas tester into a space, e.g. on a line.
