Course Overview

This unit specifies the outcomes required for the operation of a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage to which is attached a pair of fork arms or other attachment, for licensing purposes.

This unit is based on the requirements of the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work and provides applicants with the knowledge and skills required to obtain a High Risk Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck.

On successful completion of this course you will enhance your chance of employment in warehouse , construction or the rail industry as a forklift operator.

Prerequisites 

To undertake the TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck, you will need:
 
  • To be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • To understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk work
  • To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification
  • To complete an online e-learning component prior to attending your scheduled course. Details emailed on successful enrolment.

Duration

3 X 7 Hour days. 

Note: If proof of recent operation of a forklift can be supplied (past forklift ticket, third party reports etc) a two day course can be offered.

What do I need to bring?

  • You must supply 100 points of identification, including (1) form of current photo identification, proof of NSW address, Signature & Date of Birth  (see Evidence of Identity requirements below)
  •  Wear comfortable, practical clothing and enclosed footwear (you will not be permitted in with thongs or open footwear)
  • Lunch (There is a café nearby and a regular coffee van visit. Free Tea, Coffee, Water & Biscuits are provided)
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the commencement of training

Training and Assessment

Three (3) assessments will be conducted over the duration of the course – (formative assessment) Knowledge, Calculations and Practical Assessments. On the last day of the course a summative assessment will be conducted by an approved State regulatory body assessor (e.g. SafeWork NSW).
All critical components must be demonstrated and answered correctly.

Re-Assessment

Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training. 
Applicants cannot be reassessed for a minimum of 48 hours from the date of the original assessment. 
Note: There is no extra cost for this extra training or reassessment

Licences and Certification

This is a Nationally Recognised Training course and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck and the appropriate Licensing Body’s – Licence to Perform High Risk Work Application form.

This application is to be lodged at Australia Post which incurs and additional cost of $90.00 and payable to Australia Post within 60 days along with a passport photo.

If you fail to lodge your High Risk Work Application form into Australia Post within 60 days of assessment completion, there will be an extra cost of $160 to retake your SafeWork NSW summative assessment and to obtain a new High Risk Work Licence Application.

LICENCE TO OPERATE A FORKLIFT TRUCK

Cancellations and Withdrawals

In the event of cancellation or withdrawal:

  • Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
  • Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by Achieve Training and Assessment Services is required to cover the costs of administration and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training.
  • Students who cancel their enrolment within 1 full business day prior program commencement OR after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.

If Achieve Training and Assessment Services cancels the training course, and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.

Smart and Skilled

If you wish to apply and are eligible for funding through the NSW Smart and Skilled program, This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more)

Course Overview

This unit specifies the outcomes required to operate a boom type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) for licensing purposes, and involves the operation of a telescoping device, hinged device or articulated device or any combination of these used to support a platform for which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work. The 11 metre boom length shall be taken to mean the greater of the following:

a) The vertical distance form the floor of the platform to the surface supporting the elevating work platform with the platform at its maximum height; or

b) The normal reach, measured horizontally from the centre point of rotation to the outer edge of the platform in its most extended position.

On successful completion of this course you will enhance your chance of employment in warehouse , construction or the rail industry as a elevating work platform operator.

Course Overview

This unit specifies the outcomes required to operate a bridge and gantry crane. It does not cover the types that are controlled from a location remote to a permanent cabin/control station on the crane and that have three or less powered operations, that is hoist/raise and lower is one operation, for licensing purposes.

This unit applies to the activities of a person operating a bridge crane or gantry crane that is:

  • controlled from a permanent cabin or control station on the crane, or
  • remotely controlled and having more than three powered operations.

A person performing this work is required to hold a bridge and gantry crane HRWL.

This unit is based on the requirements of the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work and provides applicants with the knowledge and skills required to obtain a High Risk Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane.

Prerequisites 

To undertake the TLILIC0016 Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane, you will need:
 
  • To be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • To understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk work
  • To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification
  • MUST SUPPLY YOUR OWN CRANE

Training and Assessment

Re-Assessment

Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training. 
Applicants cannot be reassessed for a minimum of 48 hours from the date of the original assessment.

Licences and Certification

This is a Nationally Recognised Training course and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0016 Licence to operate a bridge and gantry crane and the appropriate Licensing Body’s – Licence to Perform High Risk Work Application form.

This application is to be lodged at Australia Post which incurs and additional cost of $90.00 and payable to Australia Post within 60 days along with a passport photo.

If you fail to lodge your High Risk Work Application form into Australia Post within 60 days of assessment completion, there will be an extra cost of $160 to retake your SafeWork NSW summative assessment and to obtain a new High Risk Work Licence Application.

Course Overview

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This course is developed for existing workers in the industry who may require CPR training as recommended by the ARC.

    • Assess airway, breathing and responsiveness of casualty
    • Perform at least two minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an adult and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on the floor

    • use correct hand location and compression depth rate in line with the ARC recommended ratio of compressions and ventilations
    • act in the event of regurgitation or vomiting

What is covered in the course?

  • Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
  • Implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of civil construction skid steer loader operations including:
  • Conducting prestart checks prior to commencing operations and shutdown procedures on completion of operations
  • Carrying out vehicle refuelling requirements and procedures
  • Driving and operating the equipment to site conditions
  • Applying safe work practices and identifying and reporting all potential hazards, risks and environmental issues
  • Applying problem solving and troubleshooting techniques
  • Applying levelling techniques
  • Selecting and using the required tools and equipment
  • Working safely around other machines and personnel
  • Applying methods of changing machine attachment

  • A Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills test will be required for each student. 
  • You will be required to conduct mathematical calculations throughout this course

What do I need to bring?

  • You must supply one form of photo identification. 
  •  Wear comfortable, practical clothing and enclosed footwear (you will not be permitted in with thongs or open footwear)
  • Lunch (There is a café nearby and a regular coffee van visit. Free Tea, Coffee, Water & Biscuits are provided)
  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the commencement of training

Training and Assessment

Assessments will be conducted over the duration of the course – Knowledge, Calculations and Practical Assessments. All critical components must be demonstrated and answered correctly.

Re-Assessment

Applicants deemed not yet competent will be provided the opportunity to undergo further training.

Licences and Certification

This is a Nationally Recognised Training course and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for RIIMPO318F Conduct civil construction skid steer loader operations.

A wallet sized competency card will also be issued.

Cancellations and Withdrawals

In the event of cancellation or withdrawal:

  • Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment more than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid.
  • Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment less than 10 days prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by Achieve Training and Assessment Services is required to cover the costs of administration and resources which will have already been committed based on the students initial intention to undertake the training.
  • Students who cancel their enrolment within 1 full business day prior program commencement OR after a training program has commenced will not be entitled to a refund of fees.

If Achieve Training and Assessment Services cancels the training course, and is not rescheduling then a full refund will be returned to the payer.

Smart and Skilled

If you wish to apply and are eligible for funding through the NSW Smart and Skilled program, This training is subsidised by the NSW Government.

Course Overview

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct backhoe/loader operations in Civil construction.

This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and Industry sectors.

Prerequisites 

To undertake the RIIMPO319E Conduct backhoe/loader operations, you will need:
 
  • To be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • To understand and speak the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk work
  • To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Please visit www.usi.gov.au and ensure you have at least one form of identification
  • MUST SUPPLY YOUR OWN MACHINE.

  • Access, interpret and apply backhoe/loader operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work instructions
  • Identify and address risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • Identify, obtain and implement signage traffic management requirements
  • Select, and check for faults, equipment and/or attachments for work activities
  • Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
  • Carry out pre-start, start-up, park, shutdown and secure equipment procedures
  • Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
  • Continually monitor hazards and risks , and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
  • Drive and operate machine, and modify the operating technique to meet changing work conditions
  • Complete work plan within the operating capacity of the equipment
  • Act on or report monitoring systems and alarms
  • Conduct communication practices associated with transportation and lifting of materials
  • Establish weight of load and ensure it is within safe operational limits of the machine
  • Select, attach and apply slings and lifting gear in accordance with safe working load requirements
  • Position and locate machinery to ensure stability to effectively shift materials according to job specifications
  • Shift load safely and effectively
  • Move load using hand/audible/communication signals
  • Select attachment for the task
  • Remove and fit attachment
  • Test attachment and ensure correct fitting and operation
  • Use attachment in accordance with recommendations and design limits
  • Clean and store removed attachments in designated location
  • Prepare backhoe/loader for relocation
  • Move backhoe/loader safely between worksites, observing relevant codes and traffic management requirements
  • Prepare machine for maintenance
  • Conduct inspection and fault finding
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks
  • Process written maintenance records
  • Clear work area and dispose of or recycle materials
  • Process records
